MorphoSys strengthens patent position on cancer compound programme

January 27, 2012: The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted a patent to MorphoSys AG covering the company’s cancer compound MOR202, the company’s HuCAL antibody against CD38, as well as pharmaceutical compositions comprising the same, and has a scheduled expiry date in 2028, not including any potential regulatory extensions.
MOR202 is a fully human HuCAL antibody directed against CD38, a therapeutic target for the treatment of multiple myeloma and certain forms of leukemia. It is currently being tested in a Phase 1/2a trial in patients with relapsed/refractory myeloma.

MorphoSys has more than 40 proprietary patent families worldwide, in addition to those being pursued in cooperation with partners.
